Ve verk hard, ve play hard [09 Jul 2009|03:38pm]

Last night at work I cooked for this guy.

If you don't who it that is (I can't say I blame you if you don't) that's John Prescott, deputy prime minister for the UK.
I don't care for politics (let alone ones of his reputation) just thought it was cool that in the little country pub I work in, he should saunter in.

Only gutted I didn't see him irl. Wondered if he was as huge as I imagined him to be (in my mind he's ever so slightly smaller than Jabba the Hut). Famous people always look so different in the flesh when you've only seen them on tv.

My new job is going really well. Got to grips with waiting on pretty quick and everyone there's really nice. The chefs are always playing pranks on each other, on Monday they rubbed a chilli around the the glass of one of them's drink.
Other than that they've been teaching me the ways of the kitchen. Even though I thought I'd just be waiting on I'm now working in the kitchen too, preparing and making dishes. There's a lot to memorise! To my utter horror I was left in charge of half the kitchen on my lonesome on Tuesday, making starters, sandwiches, and desserts. I managed okay, the only person who thought I couldn't manage was myself, I sure showed me :D

AC Report 2009 [09 Jul 2009|08:12am]

dark_natasha

Gosh were to begin.  Once more AC was a blast and always very busy.  It was a real challenge this time as I was already tired from getting ready for the convention.  Luckily with some adrenaline, coffee and five hour energy I was doing just fine.

Dark Mumsy was a real help as always and boy did I need it.  Guess I took on more then normal and had quite the plate when settling down to do homework.  There is just no way I could ever do a large convention with out help.

Funny thing was Michele Light’s Mother came along to help so we had the Dark and Light moms at the show.  How entertaining is that!  My Mum got her badge fro Luve of her character and just loved it.  Good thing to since she forgot her other badges at home.  Perfect timing.

The biggest let down is that I never got to see everyone I wanted to. L  Also the people I did see I did not get to see for very long.  So many people and I barley saw a1/3 the dealers room.  I also wanted to check out artist’s alley.  At least I was able to get a quick peruse of the art show but had too much work to be able to go to the artists reception.  That is just one of the main events that I get a chance to socialize with some of the others artists and fans.  I love large conventions but it makes it a real challenge to do and see everything.

Lots of wonderful art in the art show as always and even managed to win a couple of pieces. :D  Really wanted to get some sketches or badges but since I could not get around to see the artists that ended up failing.  Sigh…… hopefully next time.

The few artists I did get to see were Miss Monster, Ursula, Shinigami, TaniDaReal, Kacey, Kaemantis, Savanahrocks, Nambroth, Magock, Marci, Michele, Heather, Blotch, Sara, Hannah, Vantid, Ec Major, Ahkahna, Susan, Roz, Paul, Lobanorth, Synnabar, Xianjaguar and so many many more.  But sadly there were so many more I did not get to see or chat with longer!  I apologize for any I missed.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello!  I hope everyone had a chance to see me as I know I was a bit in and out every day.  Also thanks to all those who helped me out and gave me food!  It means a lot even if it’s just a cookie! :D  Thanks to the staff for everything you guys rock!

Once again it was the homework room all night every night as a bunch of us artists worked the away doing sketches and badges.  It seemed the only time I got to spend time with many of the artists and I’m always thankful for it.  It seems no matter who is there during most the night it always ends up being Diana and I left until 5 in the morning.

Haa Haa haa yes we are crazy but then we are also artists.

Farin was kind enough to bring me some root beer to try since last time real beer was not such a good idea when working. ;)  Alcohol and late night sketches equals need for sleep.  Who has time for sleep.

I think I’m becoming a drug dealer with the 5 hour energy, always passing it on to fellow artist friends.  “Here you gotta try this it’s the best stuff around and you don’t get any after crash”.  I should have them sponser me or something. J  Gave some to TaniDaReal and Shinigami this time around while we did homework.  Not sure if it helped shin as she seemed to be staring a lot and drawing less.  We joked around about Camp Dark Natasha where artists go to learn the art of never ending work and take more then you can Handel.  I can be such a slave driver not sure anyone would stay.

Lots and lots of cool fur suits and plenty of wonderful new art and artists.  Makes for an exciting convention every year.  Once home I was able to catch up on sleep, now it’s back to work and getting ready for RMFC and Eurofurence!

I missed all those who could not make it to AC this year and hope to see you all next year.

Cheers!

Personal Trainer [08 Jul 2009|08:12pm]

foolonthehill
Met with my personal trainer today for the first time today and let me tell you, she kicked my ass from here to next Sunday and back again.

To say I'm happy would be putting it mildly and so I am like GLEE right now with how much my legs are hurting (she asked me if I had to walk a lot for work, when I said yes, she kinda giggled and said "sorry about tomorrow then")

I've commited to David about seeing her for at least two times a week for a month and then we will see how things are going from there. This on top of weight watchers in full force again and working out at the gym the nights I don't work out with her (with weekends off) means I think I might ifnally be on a good path (plus David is currently stalking all that I do to make sure that I keep doing it which is osmething I have needed)

Hopefully in a few months I will be down 30 pounds :D

Dangit, Deadwood does just sort of end, doesn't it. At least most of the major characters can be followed historically from that point.

Um. I weigh 260lbs. I don't care if I am 5'8"...NO. NO NO NO NO. This has gotta' stop. I've been having terrible and weird health issues lately but I don't care I'm getting on the treadmill NOW. I'm painfully inactive and my diet is worse than poor. I know I need to cut out the sodas, beer, fries, and eventually all fast food. So for people here who have lost weight, how exactly have you done it? What worked for you, what didn't? All diet and exercise tips are most welcome! Thank you <3

If I could donate my fat to all you skinny people out there, I SO would.

As many of you know, [info]wolf_nymph and I arranged for me to have binders of her art prints for sale over the weekend at my dealer table. Due to an unfortunate miscommunication, a few people (likely no more than 4) were sold multiple copies of the same print instead of the single copy they paid for. Wolf Nymph and I are looking for those people to step forward and return the extra copies they have..

If you bought prints and are even a little bit tempted to keep your "free" copies, please DON'T. Wolf Nymph and I have been good friends for years and we both know how hard the other works. Our income from art sales is critical for both of us and for me to replace all of these prints myself is a huge blow. I'm a full-time student and I work two "real jobs" in addition to doing many art shows/conventions for income. Most non-artists have no concept of how much work is involved in showing. Chances are good that if you went to the show, you went because you had the extra cash to go. Many artists, including Wolf Nymph and I, attend or sell art just so that we will have the money to continue education and meet other needs. Most people know that while I enjoy art shows and meeting new people, my primary reason for attending is my looming tuition statement. Yes, I can afford to reimburse Wolf Nymph immediately for the missing prints and I will do so without fail, regardless of how this situation plays out. But that just makes things harder for everyone. It will make both of us so much happier if those persons with extra copies step forward and do the right thing.

So, here are two ways we can fix this situation:

-Buy the extra copies of the prints. That way, they'll be guiltlessly yours and perfectly fine to resell, which shouldn't be a problem given the popularity of her artwork. We can even help you advertise.

-Mail them back to Wolf Nymph and I will cover the cost of shipping.

Either way, this is a no-lose situation for the buyer as you will still have the single copie of the print you paid $10 for.

To the ONLY person so far to return the extra prints, thank you -- I am impressed with your honesty and even though you missed out on some "free" copies, I hope you feel nonetheless rewarded for having done the right thing.

To everyone else, please keep an eye out for anyone trying to unload a Wolf Nymph print, particularly if they are selling multiple copies of the same print. There's a good chance the artist was not paid for those prints.

If you have multiple copies of Wolf Nymph prints please contact us anonymously to arrange return by mail or reimbursement at MY personal expense, not yours! Nothing will be assumed by the fact that the prints were not returned immediately. In fact, we will assume that you were simply unaware until now, and we will just be grateful for your honesty.

Please help a fellow artist friend of mine [08 Jul 2009|03:02pm]

thornwolf
[info]wolf_nymph sent a bunch of her prints to be sold at Anthrocon at [info]lobanorth's table as she couldn't be there herself. The way the prints were arranged was that there were 3-7 copies of each print within one sleeve and whenever a print was purchased, it could be pulled out and handed to the customer.

Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication with how the prints were arranged, instead of a print being pulled out of the sleeve when a customer purchased it, the /whole sleeve/ with all the prints was given to the customer, causing [info]wolf_nymph to lose that much in sales as well as quite a large chunk of her inventory which unfortunately she cannot afford to replace at this point in time.

If you are someone who has purchased one of [info]wolf_nymph's prints this past Anthrocon and received multiple copies in your purchase, it would be very decent of you to please give her back the extra prints.

Please check out her ArtSpots gallery to get a sense for her work and to see if you might have multiple prints of her artwork.

Just as an aside, I know that there are many furs who are more than willing to do the decent thing and only keep the print they paid for and return the other ones to her (she has offered to reimburse those honest folks with the shipping costs), but I would like to remind those who may be contemplating selling these additional prints, we are all aware of this loss, so any extra prints that show up on Furbid or Furbuy will be noticed immediately and the auctions likely removed. Just something to think about.

Please contact [info]wolf_nymph if you have any of her prints, she'd really appreciate it!

Thank you all for your time!

Oh and also, edit from [info]lobanorth for clarification:
Your crosspost is appreciated but the fact that I am paying out of my own pocket for the mistake has not been noted and I think it should be made very clear. Regardless of how the situation plays out, Wolf Nymph will not be out anything from this nor will my assistants since I made a mistake in assuming we were all on the same page.

The situation does not warrant an assumption (by readers) that I or my helpers are ignorant or inattentive. This amounts to two friends trying to correct a mistake that nobody -- not the artist, the dealer or assistants, or buyers -- is particularly at fault for. On that grounds, we would appreciate any necessary edits for clarification.

Digital Badges - Today and Tomorrow only [08 Jul 2009|02:27pm]

thornwolf
Ran into a financial snag that couldn't have come at a worse time, so I'm going to offer digital badges done in Photoshop to those who are interested. I'm doing it a little differently this time, and receiving payment AFTER completion.

How it works:

1. If you are interested, please email me at thornwolf227@gmail.com with the title: "Digital Conbadge" and the following info:

-Character description or reference images (preferred)
-Name you want on badge
-Kind of attitude you want on badge (eg: if your character is kinda sullen obviously a typical happy badge would be kind of weird, so please specify this)
-Any other specifics, like if your character's favorite color is blue and you want them wearing a blue shirt specifically for example

2. If I get to your badge (I will do as many as I can between now and tomorrow night), I will then send you the low res version of your badge for approval.

3. Once things are squared away, please paypal $41.50 (this is $40 + paypal fees ala ppcalc.com) to thornwolf227@gmail.com

4. I will then send you the high-res file so you can print and use at your own discretion! The great thing about digital badges is you always have a backup in case it gets damaged, so that's kind of cool.

So yeah, if you're interested, the price is $41.50, paypal only, email me if you're interested! I'm only doing these until tomorrow evening so if I don't get to yours you will be emailed and asked if you want to be waitlisted until the next time when I do this type of thing again.

Thanks!

Hey you up there, be quiet! I'm trying to sleep down here! [08 Jul 2009|02:34pm]

We’ve got a lot of F-16 fighter jets flying crisscross over Copenhagen these days, on a mission to photograph the city’s infrastructure for use by the police to plan security for the upcoming COP15 climate conference and the International Olympic Committee’s conference this autumn.

I’d be out on my dad’s balcony jetspotting, if it wasn’t because I’ve been working night shifts all week and really just want to sleep, dammit! Bloody F-16s are loud! D:

Also, the media report that many people have called the police, fearing a Russian invasion. I have a silly notion that we’d have known of an invasion well in advance – not because of our spy corps or NATO allies, but because some grunt in the Red Army couldn’t help but Twitter, comrades, time for pastry! Seriously, how would you keep anything a secret these blogging days?

Huh, seems the F-16s have gone quiet now. They’re on their break, I suppose. ;) Bbl, sleep!
